Dear Fauzan, Afendi & Felix,
Thank you for your patience. It was Labour Day 1st May 2008 when you all entered the studio to record Onion Rings & Goddesses and even way before that when the rehearsals started for the songs. It has been some time from that date onwards to the final release of the 2 songs, but better late than never. It was a learning curve for me and the others involved in the production, but the experienced gained from the entire Ox & Rat project has been invaluable, and with the knowledge attained we hope to put in to practice for the production of new songs. It always makes me happy when I hear an original number from our students and teachers. With what you have learned in your classes it is good to put them in to recording so that you have a creation you can be proud off. So to those of you who have musical ideas swimming in your head I encourage you to get them organized (the teachers and other students would only be too pleased to help you) and recorded...you won't know how far it can go.
So with Onion Rings and Goddesses comes the end of the Ox & the Rat, a long project spanning close to 2 years. It was in 2007 that the idea was conceived, and the pursuit of it does make Rock City a unique school. But having said all that this is not the end but merely the beginning as we look forward to more students becoming creatively independent and able to compose their own music and getting it out there for the world to hear and see.
There is one more tune actually suppossedly under the Ox & the Rat, VDentata (pronounced vendetta) featuring Siew Yee on keyboard. I'm currently working on it but it will now come under my solo project Campfire at Cyborg's instead.
So cheers. Click and enjoy Onion Rings & Goddesses
And since I'm rambling on...will just tell you bout the songs.
Onion Rings is my tongue-in-cheek tribute to the 'greatest' country on Earth and the rest that follow. Hopefully with the new administration things will be better, and the current economic crisis, a shift in the balance of power.
Goddesses was written when I was just out of college...yalah...about a girl...we broke up...and this funny song is about the fact that if you can't have one true love you settle for all the fake ones.
