1) Tell us about yourself

My name is Fauzan, I'm fifteen years old and a student of Victoria Institution. I have been learning music in Rock City for 1 and a half years now. Everyday I play drums when I’m bored and surf youtube for drum cover videos to help me in my drumming skills. I also learn guitar and vocals.

2) What is it that you like about music?

I like music because music helps me to express my feelings in different ways. When I get tension in school work or even maybe relationship problems, I just plug in my ears with headphones and calm myself down or even better! Take a couple of drumsticks and rock out on those drums!

3) Why are you interested in learning an instrument?

I'm interested in learning an instrument because I want to show everyone I know that I am not just an ordinary kid from the block. I want everyone to know me as 'That's Fauzan! The kid who sure knows how to rock out on those drums!' 'HEY! That's Fauzan! He's sooo Coool!' Hahaha. And I want to be on stage if possible every month or maybe even every week. I want to listen to the audience chant one day when I can play my own WICKED drum solos.

4) How has your learning experience been at Rock City?

It's been a totally WICKED AWESOME JOURNEY! I met new friends; I even performed in front of big crowds like at St. John Battle of the Bands and on 30th May 2009, a few Rock City students and I will be performing at my school's Carnival day. I also look forward to other performances organized by Rock City, especially those in public places in front of thousands of strangers. With the learning experience I gained, I can play drums without any fears even though there's a huge CROWD in front of me.

5) What knowledge & experience have you gained studying music at Rock City?

How to interact and get on with new people. Performing without any fears LIVE in front of unknown crowds. Jamming with a real band. Also went to a recording studio and recorded our own songs :D

6) What further knowledge & experience do you hope to acquire?

I want to form a band in Rock City and play in the big Battle of the Bands competition like Global Battle of the Bands / Fly Fm's Battle Of The Bands / BLAST OFF! I even hope to produce an album that’s made possibly by me and my friends in Rock City. I also want to know how to do Wicked Drum Solos and even play wickedly fast on the drums like one of my favorite metal drummers, Dave Lombardo from Slayer.

7) What are your musical goals and dreams?

By Winning one of the big Battle of The Bands and even producing our own album or maybe do our own tour all around Asia :D That would be so wicked! But mostly, I want to form a band that will go far in the music industry.

8) How do you plan to achieve it/them?

By forming a band with the AWESOME STUDENTS in ROCK CITY of course! :D And also, a lot more practice and even doing a lot of performances outside

9) How has musical knowledge and experience contributed to other areas of your life?

It helped me with my social skills in interacting with other people I know. Also helped me with the way I think; now I can do 3 things at the same time without a problem like on the drums! Playing the snare, while controlling the hi-hats and also the bass drums, it’s like your brain nerves splitting in 3 different directions.

10) In what way, do you think, your experience at Rock City will help you to achieve the goals in your life?

Rock City, especially the teachers had always helped me in many ways. I already did performances, joined battle of the bands, went to a recording studio. So maybe this will help me a lot to record my own songs or maybe form a band. Like Rock City people always say, 'ROCK ON!'
